A heart is the stake. Win a fight and you take one, lose and you give one away. That turns every encounter into a decision.

How hearts change hands

Only players take hearts. Beat someone and you gain one, they lose one. That includes a trap you built. Mobs, falls and lava cost nothing.
No heart farming. Beat the same player again within 30 minutes and you get no second heart.
At zero you sit out. 24 hours, then you come back with 5 hearts – long enough to hurt, short enough that the season goes on for you.
Hearts cannot be bought. Not in the shop, not anywhere.

Wither

Only the Wither drops it. You have to summon it from soul sand and three wither skeleton skulls first – and then beat it.

All ingredients as a list

Netherite ingot ×4 Nether: Ancient debris lies deep in the Nether. Smelted it gives netherite scrap; four scrap and four gold ingots make one ingot. You need four.
Heavy core Trial Chamber: Found in the ominous vault of a trial chamber, with about a 7.5 % chance. Only an ominous trial key opens that vault.
Echo shard Ancient City: In the chests of the Ancient City, deep underground. Sneak – whoever is too loud wakes the Warden.
Nether star Wither: Only the Wither drops it. You have to summon it from soul sand and three wither skeleton skulls first – and then beat it.
Trident Drowned: Only dropped by drowned that carry one, and rarely even then – about one in fifty.
Totem of Undying Raid: Dropped by the evoker that comes along when a village is raided.

Revival

Out at zero hearts? Your team can bring you back straight away – with 10 hearts instead of 5. It is expensive on purpose.

Craft the beacon: four netherite blocks, an enchanted golden apple, two wither skeleton skulls, a nether star and a totem.
Use it.
Type the name of the player who is out in the chat. They are back immediately, with 10 hearts.

World

World border: overworld 5,000, Nether 1,250, End 4,000 blocks. Everyone meets sooner or later.

Homes

/sethome and /home – no other teleport. /tpa, /rtp, /spawn and /back are off: whoever wants to get away, walks.

Ranking

Who holds the most hearts right now is always visible on the right of the screen.
